The
NC-55 corridor from Holly Springs to US-64 is exploding with
retail and office development. Due to the explosive
residential growth in Fuquay Varina and Holly Springs, the area
between Holly Springs and US-1 in Apex is prime for commercial
growth and possibly a Regional Shopping Mall. This one
stretch of road (4 miles) has four major feeder roads planned
to tie into NC-55 and the entire intersection NC-55/US-1 is
now being widened to five lanes. Another
major intersection will be Jessie Drive just south of the US
# 1 /NC 55 intersection. Just North of US # 1 is
Apex's planned Peakway thoroughfare now under construction.
Also planned is a new interchange on US #1 with the extension
of Jessie Drive and lastly will be the 540 Southern Loop from
US64 to NC55 which is needed now !!!
64

Road and US 64 will become another commercial node like US 64
